Artist’s Note: This is a view of spring on the high desert, at the north edge of the Highwood Mountains, near the “town” of Shonkin. We are looking west, where only 12,000 years ago, everything we see would have been under Glacial Lake Great Falls. These days, this amount of green lasts about 45 days on the short grass prairie of Montana.
