Kelly Stevenson

Kelly Stevenson makes emotionally driven, figurative ceramic sculptures and vessels. Her work is fueled by her personal experiences and recurring themes of transition in her life. She is curious about how people, as complex beings, exist and survive in dynamic environments. Stevenson pairs mixed media materials with her ceramic figures and seeks to communicate on a visceral and intellectual level with the viewer. She hopes to trigger emotional, dynamic displays of expression in the viewer as a means of bridging individual and universal experience.

Stevenson received her Bachelors of Fine Arts from Montana State University before fulfilling her Masters of Fine Arts degree from Georgia State University in 2013. After three years of teaching ceramics as an Assistant Professor at Berry College in GA, she was able to return to her beloved Montana roots, when granted a Fellowship, Artist-Residency at the renowned Archie Bray Foundation for the Ceramics Arts in Helena, MT from 2018-2020. Kelly has exhibited her work both nationally and internationally, has works included in private and public collections and is included in a handful of publications.

In May of 2021, Stevenson and her mother, the artist Marie Stevenson, opened Teslow Arts Center in Livingston, MT.
